Home Yoga Practice Sequences

The ultimate aim of my yoga teaching is that you gain the confidence to practice your own yoga in your own home. When I teach, I often use the phrase yoga for every body and believe strongly in adapting the yoga to suit the needs of the individual. For this reason, the yoga I teach is different every day and for every person.

Surya Namaskara (Salute to the Sun) is a very useful sequence for anyone wanting a ‘go to’ practice to get them on to their mat and starting to do some form of regular yoga. I have included here a video of me practising the sequence. There are many different versions (and variations on versions) of this sequence but I like this one as a starting point as it is so easy to modify to suit most people.

Once learnt this sequence can be your starting point. During the practice (perhaps 3, 5 or 10 repetitions), you will get a feel for what else your body needs that day and can choose to follow it with the postures and practices you need.

Then choose one of the other postures or sequences according to how you are feeling in that moment. With time your confidence to create your own yoga practice will grow.
